Comic Con – Day 2

Quatum Quest Panel

Quatum Quest Panel

So my day got better today after a mess dealing with a broken down car while being 300 miles from home. I went back to Comic Con today and had so much fun, except for when I started being shoved every which way by impatient people. In order for me to get my car into the mechanic in time, I decided to skip the New Moon panel. I more than likely wouldn’t have gotten in anyway seeing as people spent the night to be in line. It was way too long this morning when the panel didn’t start until 1:45pm. While wondering around the Exhibit Hall looking back at everything from yesterday, I noticed some girls wondering around with TV screens in their shirts. They were promoting the upcoming animated movie Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey and the panel that was starting in about an hour and a half. I figured what the heck – I heard Chris Pine’s name and I was there. So I headed upstairs and sat next to a could of fellow Stargate and Sanctuary fans and waited patiently for the panel to start. I got a wonderful seat in about the fourth row and nearly screamed with excitement when the name place holders came out. No Chris Pine, but Robert Picardo was there!! For anyone who doesn’t know who he is, he played Special Agent Richard Woolsey in the Stargate franchise. Janina Gavakar joined him in the panel as well, who had appeared as Sgt. “Dusty” Mehra in the episode Whispers on Stargate Atlantis.

Quantum Quest is an animated movie (which will be in 3D is some theatres) coming in February 2010. It uses real images captured by Cassini a telescoped that was launched in 1997 I believe. It looks pretty cool and it has an all-star cast including both actor who have portrayed Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek and Darth Vader from Star Wars. I even got to see a video that Chris Pine recored because he couldn’t be there and a recorded message from Neil Armstrong who lends his voice in the movie. This year marked Comic Con’s 40th anniversary and monday just so happened to be the 40th anniversary of when Neil Armstong landed on the moon.

Plot: Quantum Quest centers on the story of Dave, a young photon, who is forced out of the Sun on a journey of discovery. He must get to the Cassini Space Craft and save it from the forces of the Void, only Dave does not know exactly what he must do or even where the Cassini Space craft is or what it is. The forces of the Void must destroy Cassini before it sends its great discoveries back to Earth, Dave is the only thing that stands between them and victory. (Taken from imdb)

And I leave you with pictures from the 2009 Comic Con in San Diego, CA.
